Colruyt Group opens business complex in Jambes

After opening the distribution centre in Ath/Lessines, Colruyt Group aims at pursuing its development in Wallonia in the region of Namur. On this occasion, Colruyt Group has decided to try out a new formula to simplify the life of people living in Namur: 4 complementary business activities of Colruyt Group have been housed together in one business complex on the former industrial site of the Atelier, where the local branch of Colruyt Group Academy is also located. The inauguration took place on 13 October 2015.

An opening celebrated with dignity

To celebrate the launching of its project, Colruyt Group spared no effort: on 13 October, i.e. the day before the official opening of the complex, the site received the visit of the minister and mayor of Namur Maxime Prévot and of Claude Romain, sales director at Colruyt. After a short speech, festivities could start: discovery workshop at Colruyt Group Academy, face painting at Dreamland, reception at the Colruyt store. This day had something for everyone's taste, just as the business complex does.

Meeting all needs

By gathering several business activities on one site, Colruyt Group's goal is two-fold: first of all, revitalising this site at the entrance of the city by mixing shops and houses on the former industrial site called « The Atelier », and this in the context of a mixed building project. Secondly, simplifying the life of people living in Namur by giving them the possibility to find everything they need on one and the same, easily accessible site. To this end, the business activities represented in Jambes are: Colruyt, for shopping at the lowest prices; Collect&Go, the online shopping service for those in a hurry; Dreamland, the toy specialist; and Dreambaby, the baby expert, with its unique service of baby gift lists. Besides these 4 business activities, the new site of Colruyt Group Academy has opened on the site, offering captivating workshops. Finally, a Bio-Planet store will propose its range of organic and ecological products to the people of Namur next spring. It will be located on the former Colruyt store site.

Strengthening the presence in Wallonia

Through the opening of the site in Jambes, Colruyt Group once more demonstrates its commitment to strengthen its presence in Wallonia. The location of the complex was not chosen at random. 1.300 employees of the group are already working in the region of Namur and some 25 additional jobs will be created through the opening of this site. This is the second major project launched by Colruyt Group in Wallonia this year: several months ago, the group inaugurated a distribution centre in Ath/Lessines in the province of Hainaut, thereby creating about 350 new jobs.
